Originally "Twinkle Little Star" was the founding creative "all rounded" piano-arts program that uses language arts, visual arts and the performing arts in the music learning process. Since 1980 it has been the main, very successful "one on one" program that focuses on the the needs, potential and abilities of the individual young child age 5 and up.
The unique "one on one" artistic curriculum enables a young child to learn, listen, play and have fun being introduced to the symbolic language of music. At an early age, a child acquires the skills to recognize pitch (note reading), feel rhythm (sing, clap, move and play an instrument),discover the rudiments in theory and compose own musical compositions. In addition, the child learns to appreciate and perform, using both hands, a variety of piano pieces. Special attention is given to the development of the particular child's musical, creative and emotional skills.
My innovative "Imagery In Music" educational concept provides a child with the creative tools to communicate character, mood and emotion when playing a piece at the piano. As part of the structured program, each child creates his/her own portfolio by using scrapbook, sketchbook and recording equipment to capture artistic impressions. The results amongst my students using this creative arts method have been phenomenal! A creative arts center in my performing arts studio exhibits a variety of impressive inter-connection of the arts examples.
To fulfill the demand of parents with very gifted, artistically inclined and enthusiastic young learners, the "Stepping Stone" program was founded. It is a branch off from the "Twinkle Llittle Star" program that is well suited for talented and serious students who want to pursue a concentrated course of piano performance study. A partnership in learning between parent-student-teacher is required to reach optimal results of this goal-oriented program. An indepth individual study strategy involving recital, exam, Festival and talent show preparation and participation is planned.
A very impressive track record of accolades is testament of my studio's standard of educational arts excellence.
